Often when I explain to people what I do, they are shocked, taken aback that nonprofits are investing in digital experiences. To which, I rebut their shock by asking them if they expect to be able to find nonprofits online, if they wish they knew how to do more good through everyday activities. Every time I hear a resounding, YES!

So what is the shock that nonprofits care about digital and see it as an opportunity to expand their mission? Fundamentally, people think digital = expensive, when in reality it may very well be the most cost-effective way for nonprofits to reach a wider audience both for awareness and for executing on their mission.

Let’s erase those misconceptions that nonprofits are backwards and incapable of handling sophisticated business practices, because from the innovation I am witnessing, the for-profit sector will soon have a lot to learn from nonprofits.
